Lego Robotics Project

We are currently developing automation equipment using Lego robotics (EV3).   If you are interested in this, please contact us – we are very keen to share our ideas about this topic.

We currently have several Lego robots to aid our chemistry research. More information about each one is covered below.

An early example of a reactor which can aid reactions. This allows us to perform 4-different reactions at once
Front right: A later version of the Lego reaction block. This contains two syringe pumps which allows us to mix two different reagents together continuously before being deposited into the stirred reaction vials. We are able to carry out and sample 8 different reactions at any one time.
Back left: High-throughput robotic arm. We use stock solutions of many chemicals to performs many different combinations of reactions.
Middle centre: Lego dilutor robot. More information can be found below.
The automated Lego serial dilutor. This enables us to create calibration samples to analyse by UV-Vis Spectroscopy.
